Total War Warhammer 2 Dark Elves Guide
Well, I had no complaints about the first Warhammer, but yeah, the Dark Elves have taken over literally half the map in my 95 hour and counting campaign. I started as Clan Mors and they're all the way over on the far side of the map so what am I supposed to do about it? I have a phenomenally overpowered undead faction which has taken over the entire northern part of my island that I have to deal with, easily fielding 10 full stack armies. I send the maximum 10,000 gold army over every time I can, but they immediately crush it, along with every other army sent by the remaining factions. I have +300 relations with Clan Pestilens but they absolutely will not ally or even make a military access agreement with me because my pathetic 3 stack army is puny compared to theirs as they own 1/4 of the map to themselves. It's very broken how the AI can easily field 10+ armies while more than 3 would absolutely crush my economy. If I add a single general, it will cost me an extra 4,000 in upkeep before I've even added any units to him.My campaign is really looking unwinnable at this point and it's very disheartening given the amount of time I've spent on it. Originally posted by:Auto Resolve being broken on higher difficulties is a well known Total War issue and not related to 'Dark Elves' it's literally been a problem for years.Beyond that it sounds like you're just in a losing campaign.
I mean, why would you let any faction get to the point of 'taking over the world?' What have you been doing while they have been taking over the world? Also, I mean, you -are- playing as the Lizzardmen, you have a Monster Unit for every possible scenario.I think i have the worst luck. The first 20 turns i was busy against the skaven, all went well. And then suddenly the skaven convinced the wood elves to fight against me. Great, now i have to go on the defensive side.30 Turns later the wood elves agreed to peace and i could continue my assualt against the skaven.
And then it happend. The elven faction in the south, the 3 little island declared war on me. They kept sending stacks of high elite units against me. I have fought over 50 battles with them now and they won't agree to peace.
No matter how much gold i gave. So i couldn't take over any region since i needed my army to defend.Fast forward 200 turns and the skaven was defeated by the dwarfs, the Dark elves wiped out almost everyone. The Cult of pleasure and Nagath have over 150 cities combined. I only need 800 more plauge for final ritual. Don't know if i make it.So that's how it happend. Not sure what difficulty you're playing on, but something went VERY wrong for you early. Just finished a Hard run as lizard men, and I was top ranked from about turn 50-end.
Within the first few turns, try to get the wood elves there to agree to a Non-Agression/Trade. They start out liking you decently enough, it should be fairly easy to do. As for the southern island elves, send them a few small gifts, and focus on the skaven. Killing the skaven actually gets you in good favor with them, and you can do a trade agreement with them (Trade with elves seems to make them really like you). After that, I was able to ignore them and take over pretty much the rest of the main island, leaving the little canyon/Top Knots area up top for my dwarven allies.
By end of campaign, I was fielding 6 or 7 full stack armies of Lord, 1 heaven's priest, 1 Saurus Old blood, 3 Saurus w/ shields, 2 Saurus w/ shield and spears, 4 temple guards, 2 Kroxigars, 2 Horned ones, 2-3 chameleon skinks (possibly a skink chief in there instead of 1 of them), then a mix of either Feral Carnosaurs/Ancient Stegadons depending on who I targeted. I don't think I lost a single battle with that setup, even several that the auto resolve showed me 'outclassed' by like 3:1 odds.Biggest tips I can give are abuse the. out of the heaven's priests, they are SOOOO strong. A well placed chain lightning can kill/route an entire unit. When you're main line engages, pick find w/e saurus unit is getting hit the hardest, buff them and debuff their opposition.
The Saurus units alone are insanely strong (I expect a nerf to them saddly). Turn your stegadons to melee mode w/ auto fire, and have those big boys charge the enemy lines. Even your priest gets 1 as a mount by lvl 16, and those things are capable of taking out just about any enemy infantry group. Use your carnosaurs/lords on carno mounts to take out enemy cav/monsters, and gg. Originally posted by:Not sure what difficulty you're playing on, but something went VERY wrong for you early.
