Wrap Dress Free Pattern
OK, I'm a beginner at sewing and somehow I thought it would be a great idea to sew wrap dresses since they look difficult to screw up. I mean wrap dresses are pretty forgiving right? Anyway, I followed the instructions and several hours later I have the shell of a wrap dress! Its my first sewing DIY so I'm pretty ecstatic. I still have to finish off the tie waist but it's pretty much all done.
The instructions were easy but it definitely took longer than I anticipated which is good if you are looking for a 2-3 day project instead of trying to cram it all into one day like I did. I made this dress just last week. It was very easy.
I'm not new to sewing, but I am new to sewing apparel. I went through a little extra effort to use French seams (not required per the pattern).
I've received a lot of compliments on it. It looks vintage without looking like a costume like so many modern-made retro clothing items.I made dress 'A' - the black and white one on the cover. Instead of white, I used a beautiful blue to go with the black. I used an apparel-grade Kona cotton (so it's thick enough to not be see-through). Divinity 2 crafting weapons build. The skirt was full enough to not require any type of petticoat. However, if you use a thin cotton you'll probably need a petticoat of some variety.
This pattern did not require any special equipment - I used my basic 1978 Singer to sew it (and also I did.
