Important Note: This document discusses Client Access for Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT, Client Access Express, and IBM iSeries Access products. These names essentially refer to the same product; however, the functionality and name changed over the last several releases. For the purposes of this document, the terms Client Access, Client Access Express, and iSeries Access may be used interchangeably. Where a difference is important, the version of the product is used to identify the differences.Client Access Express, iSeries Access for Windows, and Client Access provide a Microsoft Excel add-in for data transfer that allows you to run download and upload transfer requests from 32-bit versions of Microsoft Excel (uploads starting with Client Access Express V5R1). If the add-in is not already installed, following are the instructions to install the Microsoft Excel data transfer add-in.Note: The documentdoes not pertain to V6R1 or V7R1 System i Access for Windows. Check the System i Access version by running cwbckver from a PC command prompt.If using V6R1/V7R1 System i Access, refer to technote.

This support is installed during a typical and full installation; however, it might not have been installed in a custom or 5250 installation. With Office 2000 Microsoft Excel, automatic installation of the Data Transfer add-in might not occur; the add-in can be done manually as demonstrated below.Note: These instructions are also included in the Client Access or iSeries Access User's Guide, which is installed as part of Client Access or iSeries Access. In the User's Guide, select the Index tab and start typingExcel.
The optionExcel add-ins, installing will show up in the list.Office 2000, 2003, and XP. 1.If Client Access Express or iSeries Access is used, ensure that you installed Data Transfer Excel Add-In support when you installed Client Access Express or iSeries Access. This support is installed during a typical and full installation, but it might not have been installed in a custom or 5250 installation. This can be determined by selecting Selective Setup from the Client Access or iSeries Access group, selecting the option Ignore, I'm only going to uninstall components, expanding Data Access, expanding Data Transfer, and determining if the box is selected for Data Transfer Excel Add-in. Cancel out of the selective setup or go back and take the option to use a Source Directory and install the Data Transfer Excel Add-in.2.Open Microsoft Excel.3.Click Add-Ins from the Tools menu.4.Click Browse.5.Locate the path in which you installed Client Access Express or iSeries Access.6.Double-click on the Shared folder.7.Double-click on the cwbtfxla.xll file. If cwbtfxla.xll is not found, see the note at the bottom of this document.8.Click OK.Now you should have a check box in the Add-Ins box forTransfer Data from AS/400.

This is the check box to use for adding and removing the add-in. When the add-in is selected, you will be able to click on the data transfer toolbar icon that appears on your Microsoft Excel toolbar. You can also run a data transfer request by selectingTransfer Data from AS/400 from theData menu.Office 2007/2010. 1.When using Excel 2007, click on the Office button (the large circle at the top left of the application).When using Excel 2010, at the top of the Excel session there should be a down arrow with a line under it. Click on the down arrow and select More Commands.Excel 2013 is not supported with this version of the data transfer add-in. See Note above.2.Depending on the version of Excel, the Excel Options window will open or the option should be available to click on the Excel Options button.3.In the resulting dialog, click on Add-Ins to view the installed add-ins for Excel.4.Near the bottom of the dialog, there is a pull-down box of items to manage. Ensure Excel Add-ins is selected, and click on the Go button.5.In the resulting dialog, click on the Browse button.6.Navigate to the installation path of iSeries Access (which is typically C:Program FilesIBMClient Access).7.Double-click on the Shared folder.8.Double-click on the cwbtfxla.xll file.
If cwbtfxla.xll is not found, see the note at the bottom of this document.9.Click the OK button. The toolbar buttons for the Excel Add-In should now be displayed under the Add-in tab.Note: If cwbtfxla.xll is not found, the Data Transfer Excel Add-in option may not be installed as part of iSeries Access. This can be verified by going toAdd/Remove programs in the Control Panel and selectingiSeries Access for Windows. Use the option to Change and navigate through the screens untilComponent Selection is found. ExpandData Access, then expandData Transfer, and the Data Transfer Excel Add-in option will be listed. You should verify that it is installed.
I am using Excel 2013. When I open a new workbook and click on the ADD-INS tab, there are no available add-ins. I click File, Options, Add-ins Manage COM Add-ins GO and I see that the Data Transfer Excel Add-in is checked. (this is theadd-in to transfer data to and from the IBM iSeries). I uncheck the add-in and click OKI then go back to File, Options, Add-ins Manage COM Add-ins GO and check the Data Transfer Excel Add-in and Click OK.The Add-in now works, until I close Excel. Each time I launch Excel I must repeat this process to load the Add-in.

It is installed on 3 PC's (2 laptops, 1 d/top). 1 laptop is able to use all Power Add Ins but the others do not have them available in COM Add INs?? Both PC's are r unning a 32bitversion of 365. I have tried reinstalling 365 and have updated the registry (HKEY lines were not there). Desktp is Win 7, laptop Win 8 - Working l/top is Win 7.

Have.NET Framework v4.5 installed. Have also checked wether it's runningin 'Compatibity mode'. Ran Compatibility Troubleshooter & Repair but the Problem still persists.Currently Office 365 Small Business Premium Version is: 15.0.4551.1512.Note: In Australia SB Prem. Includes ProPlus versions of Office suite as advised by vendor (Telstra).I know it's probably me but what can the issue be?Allan.
